Meet Our Coaches

Blair Piddington

Head Coach

blairpiddington@gmail.com

Hey Westwood families! My name is Blair Piddington and I am the Head Swim Coach this summer. I am returning for another year and can’t wait for summer to start. We are so excited to have you all and we will have an incredible season. We are going to have an amazing coaching staff this summer to work with me and to work with all of your kids. There is nothing better than summer swimming! A quick introduction about myself:

  • I coach a National/National Prep group in the mornings at Machine Aquatics. These swimmers are all 13-18 and swim 11 months at 4:30 am.
  • This is my 20th year with Machine and I have worked with all levels of swimmers, working as their Head Age Group Coach for many years (12 and under).
  • I Coached in the NVSL at Vienna Aquatic as both the Assistant and the Head Coach for 14 years. While I was there, we competed in Division 1 and Division 2, and we won Division 1.
  • I grew up swimming at VAC, swam for York Swim Club, and went on to swim at George Mason University.
  • I am currently an 8th-grade PE teacher at Thoreau Middle School.

I look forward to meeting and talking with all of you. Please reach out with any questions!

Aaron Durrence

Assistant Coach

aaron@machineaquatics.com

Hello Westwood families my name is Aaron Durrence and I am very excited to start my first year at Westwood! I am from Atlanta, Georgia where I swam for Dynamo Swim Club and then went on to swim collegiately for the University at Buffalo up in New York, which is where I developed my passion for coaching while working part-time as a mainly 10 & Under coach at Buffalo Area Aquatic Club. Upon graduation in 2018, I decided to pursue a full-time career in coaching, leading me to Northern Virginia and Machine Aquatics, where I have been the Head Age Group Coach at their Audrey Moore site for the past 6 years. During my time at Machine, I have gotten to know Coach Blair extremely well as we both have a similar passion for the sport so I know we will make this a truly amazing season for all your kids!
